During fall migration, I was getting out every week, sometimes multiple times a week, to walk in the outdoors, find birds, enjoy the warbler-palooza. Come winter and my camera has been sitting sad and relatively unused.
But this week I was finally able to get out and go to the Meadowlands, which I haven’t been to since summer.

The weather was overcast but the birds were out, especially Belted Kingfishers. We were treated to multiple individuals calling and hanging out within sight, no bins required.

And this hunting heron paid no attention to anyone walking by on the boardwalk, it was focused on finding some prey. Check out the second photo – it looks like the heron has ear tufts!

I’m hoping for more days out with the birds (and other wildlife), but mixed in with sunshine please!
