It’s that time of year! I watched this cutie patootie on the roof of the house next door doing his best to attract a mate.
A “perch-coo” is used by unmated males from a conspicuous perch but Mourning Doves don’t open their mouths while calling. Instead they’ll puff up their necks—this is the best view I’ve ever gotten of that. And check out that beautiful, subtle iridescent patch.
Modos aren’t the brightest bulbs in the box but I love them so much. Everything they tend to do is so naïve yet endearing. 🥰
